Aub Lawson rode in 9 world finals, and it would have been 10 had the 1939 final not been cancelled due to World War II.
Derek Close (Nig Close's father) was in the 1952 final and Eric Boothroyd took part in 1956.
Eric (Booey) Booc*** was in three finals - 1967, 1971 and 1972 - while Simon Cross was in the 1987 final and also reserve in 1988.
And as a footnote, while the official world championship did not start until 1938 Harry Whitfield won an event that was labelled the World Championship in 1932 at Sydney, Australia.
